A push, sad realization or mad genius?

Was Joe Biden pushed out by his party because he’s showing signs of senility? Did he come to the sad realization himself that maybe it was best for both his party and his own health to resign the Presidency? Or did he just pull a Master Class in political Jiu-jitsu?

I have no idea.

But I like to think it was a little bit of the latter two.

Take all the blows until Trump gets overconfident, let him spend himself silly with nonsense and choose a terrible VP because he’s so confident on his win, and when he thinks he has it won and is mailing it in with unchecked nonsense, move out of the way and let the other part of the ticket – a political pro – go to the top and return every blow, one by one.

Now the enthusiasm on the Democratic camp is enormous. And the Republicans are completely off kilter.

Not only that, all the attacks he pushed on Biden now apply to Trump. Old? Check. Senile? Check. Weak? Check. Out of touch? Check. A terrible presidency? Oh yes, check.

And the one thing Trump was bragging about – getting close to being a martyr – now looks silly. As sad as it is, you are fine other than a nicked ear? Biden sacrificed his political career. And what was that about coming together with all your new insults?

In his withdrawal, Biden did the most masterful bit of political trolling I’ve seen, ever.

It’s a fine farewell for Dark Brandon.

Now Biden is the hero who put country over party, with the unstated message that is the one thing Trump would never, ever, ever do. Biden gets congratulations and thank yous for a long and successful political career that ends with a golden move, and Trump is reduced to YouTube golf videos, refusing interviews during the campaign, threatening lawsuits and calling himself young.

One retiring hero, one childish orange tantrum who has to figure out from scratch how to campaign against Harris.

All the while Biden is still president. And can still talk and tweet about Trump. And if Trump responds (and you know he will), it’s just a distraction because it’s the wrong target and he’s wasting time chasing ghosts and attacking someone who isn’t running. And it’s also badgering an old man.

And if Harris wins, Biden will gets much of the credit for ending with Trumpism for good, having him beaten once, and then figuring out how to beat him a second time.

Trump was outsmarted. And exposed. And now is the weak candidate, behind in the polls in less than 72 hours against a candidate that gathered $100 million in political donations in 24h.

But he won’t step down. That would require maturity and selflessness. Neither of which are in high supply in that Orange head.
